Very
smart and complete machine, not a toy. The Gem
was introduced in 1899 uncased and noticeably different
from all
that followed after. The Gem was a small,
portable,
personal
machine made to compete with small European and
domestic
models
priced in the ranges that the working people could
afford.
Except the horn assembly & reproducer. It runs like a charmed clock and has been
taken care of and loved in its lifetime.
This is a 2
minute
machine capable of playing Wax and celluloid 2 Minute records.
The reproducer is an excellent reproduction. However, if you prefer an
original we
can replace this with a rebuilt original for $45.00 additional at time
of sale, a savings
of $125.00.
We
cleaned, lubed and polished, and the results are as you see. Some of the
gilding has worn away but 90 to 95% is still in great
shape as you see.
The lid has a repaired area that looks good and is not a problem.
