Edison Standard
Mod. D
2/4 Combination Type
1908 - 1911

This is a very nice machine, one of the first of the factory made machine that was
made for both 2 minute and the newly introduced 4 minute Amberol records.
With the removal of the swing out gate at the end of the mandrel, and the addition
of the speed change knob on the left side gear stanchion, the operation of this
Standard was somewhat easier than the earlier models.
The new decals around the perimeter with two lines instead of the one, made it a
 more attractive layout.

The early issue of this model had two reproducers, ( "C" 2 min. and "H"4 min.)
but later issues had the model "K" combination reproducer.

This Machine is in rare condition, the cabinet may have been refinished,
I cannot be certain, It is very good. The decal looks original and warn some.
It has
been hand rubbed and waxed to the luster it had originally.

The bedplate shows little wear, the decals look good and bright. The Reproducer
is reproduction, as is the horn and crank, all else is original.
An "H" reproducer is provided for the easier to obtain 4 min. records. You may
want an Original or a reproduction "C" 2 min reproducer to complete your
machine. At the time of sale you may either buy a reproduction for an additional
$75.00, or an original "C" (reconditioned) for an additional $100.00.

- A WORD ABOUT REPRODUCED HORNS -
We all would like to find that proverbial mint machine in
Aunt Tilly's closet. Early collectors found these machines
and were able to buy them cheaply. We are now finding the
machines that need substantial work. The horns usually are
rusty (often through the metal), they are dented, from
small dings to large folds. and where used as funnels for fuel
and other things.
To restore an original takes a lot of skill and work, and when
you get through you have a dimpled, wavy, repainted less than
correct original that I prefer not to put on my machines as
representing what the makers and skilled workers made.
The Reproduced horns we sell and use are made exactly like
the originals, less all the rust, dents and high prices.

If you prefer a larger horn, check with us to see what is available
and what deal we can make you at time of sale.

The Price for this exceptional machine that has been gone through and needs
nothing else but to show off and enjoy is
$680.00 USD
